Maui is the second most visited island in Hawaii with opulent resorts, manicured golf courses and excellent sightseeing tours. The island is the best place in the US for humpback whalewatching and has the charming town of Lahaina with fine dining and world class art galleries.
There are two airports - Kahului on the north coast receives by far the most traffic with well over 100 flights a day from Honolulu and also receives some flights direct from mainland USA; West Maui airport receives a dozen or so flights a day from Honolulu. Maui is a great place to hire a car - there are lots of great scenic drives to get you away from the crowds, including the famous winding road to Hana.
